Hello, beautiful souls!Ā

There is a chance many of you are just embarking on your spiritual path, a journey of self-discovery. There are many tools to boost spiritual awakening, but meditation is probably one of the most powerful of them.

In this article, we will share some beginner-friendly tips to start meditating, including techniques and recommendations.Ā

Are you ready? Letā€™s jump right in!

What Is Meditation?

Meditation is an ancient practice to quiet the mind and reach higher states of consciousness. It often involves sitting still and focusing on something. For example, you could focus on your breath, heartbeat, a mantra, etc.

It is one of the most powerful spiritual practices because it allows you to silence earthly thoughts, awaken intuition, and connect with your inner wisdom.

Is Meditation Difficult?

Meditation is not necessarily difficult. However, most of us are often distracted with everyday worries, jumping from one thought to another. Our concentration skills may be a little out of practice.

But thereā€™s nothing that a consistent meditation practice cannot solve! Even science shows how meditation can improve focus.

Meditation Tips for Beginners

If you are a beginner with meditation, try these tips for a smooth start!

Prepare Your Body for Meditation

You often feel stressed, overwhelmed with tasks, and constantly tired. You fall asleep during meditation or canā€™t even sit still. Sounds familiar? Your body is telling you something!

All strong emotions and tension tend to accumulate in the body. Emotional blockages and stagnant energy make our body feel energetically dense.

Meditation is easier when our bodies feel light and subtle. We can achieve this by releasing all the negative energy stored in our bodies.

Energetic Cleansing Techniques

Our auras are like an electromagnetic field that is always absorbing energy from all the places we go and all the people we encounter. When our bodies absorb too much negative energy, we tend to feel tense, stressed, and out of balance.

There are many ways to cleanse your body energetically. From smoke cleansing with palo santo, frankincense, etc, to sound healing with Tibetan bowls, there is an infinite array of options.

You could also make a herbal bath with rue, wormwood, common sage, and rosemary; or try sweeping selenite (or other crystal) all over your body.

Your intention is what makes these practices powerful!

Visit Nature

Energetic cleanses are a must. However, the best way to get rid of negative stagnant energy is to go outdoors. Visit natural places, bathe in a river, walk barefoot, hug a tree, and immerse yourself in the magic of nature. Try to do this at least once a week, and your body will feel lighter.

Practice Mindfulness All the Time

Meditation becomes so much easier when we practice mindfulness during the whole day. At every moment, remember to feel your heart, become conscious of your breath, and be aware of your surroundings. In simple words, learn to live in the present.

When we sit down for a meditation practice, it will be so much easier because we are able to focus.

Tips for Your Meditation Session

Here are some tips to apply just before and during your meditation session.

Find the Best Time and Place

Meditation experts can meditate anywhere, anytime, but a designated space for meditation will make you see results faster!

Find a quiet place in your home. If you can have a meditation room, that would be perfect! Otherwise, a designated spot in your bedroom will work just as well.

Make sure this place is always clean and organized. Smudge or smoke cleanse frequently to remove negative or stagnant energy.

You can meditate whenever you wish, but the best hours are just after waking up, ideally before sunrise. This way, you can align with the harmony of the morning: the sun rises, birds sing, and the world is at ease.

Meditating before bedtime is also a wonderful idea. Just make sure you donā€™t fall asleep! Meditation at night sets the tone for a joyful experience in the dream world. You can even try to astral project and lucid dream.

Meditate On an Empty Stomach

A full belly is not always a happy heart!Ā
Avoid meditating immediately after eating for best results. It will make you more focused and alert, and itā€™s easier to achieve a meditative state. However, donā€™t be too hungry, or it will distract you.

Create an Ideal Atmosphere

Turn off the lights, light a candle, play soothing music, light an incenseā€¦ Do anything that works for you to tune into a mystical, peaceful feeling. Avoid distractions by turning off your phone or TV.

Use Crystals

Crystal and gemstones are powerful allies for your spiritual practices. Crystals have a high vibration, and each crystal radiates a unique energy.

Use this to your advantage: wear an amethyst necklace or hold it during meditation. This will raise your vibration and aid in meditation.Ā

Learn to Relax

Now, immediately before meditation, ensure your body is fully relaxed. Try stretching, a short Yoga session, or even a herbal tea to get rid of all the tension in the body. Keep breathing until you feel calm.

Find a Comfortable Posture

Once you are ready to meditate, find a comfortable posture and try not to move.

You can try the lotus pose, but if you are not that flexible, sitting down will work too. You could even lay down if you donā€™t fall asleep easily. The point is to make yourself feel comfortable.

Quiet the Mind

Once the body is prepared, it is time to quiet the mind. Keep breathing until worries and anxieties decrease.

Choose something to focus on and stick to it. It can be your breath, heartbeat, a mantra, your third eye chakra, or anything you feel comfortable with.

If thoughts appear, do not try to fight them. Just observe them. Breathe, let them pass, and focus again.

Here are some powerful Hindu and Buddhist mantras to aid in your practice:

* Oį¹ƒ Maį¹‡i Padme HÅ«į¹ƒ (ā€œPraise to the jewel in the lotusā€).

* Om Namah Shivaya (ā€œO salutations to the auspicious one!").

* Gate Gate Pāragate Pārasamgate Bodhi Svāhā ("Gone gone, gone beyond, gone utterly beyond, Enlightenment hail!").

Finish Your Practice

When you are done, finish your practice with a prayer or words of gratitude to the Universe. Move your body slowly and open your eyes. Become aware of how relaxed you feel and all that peace and harmony you are experiencing. Enjoy the state of mind you gained after meditation.

Make It a Daily Habit

Meditation yields the best results when you are consistent. Do it every day. Start with five minutes, and gradually increase.

If some part of meditation is hard for you, be patient, stay consistent, and celebrate your victories. Not falling asleep or being able to keep your body quiet for a few minutes is also a big win!

Final Thoughts

Meditation is a complete practice. It has all the attributes to propel you forward in your spiritual path. It relaxes your body, makes you regain power over your mind and body, and brings you back to the present moment.

You can start to see results after the first session. But if you keep practicing, you can experience so much more! It connects you with spiritual realms, aligns you with higher vibration, and puts you in tune with your divine essence.

Beginners should approach meditation with curiosity, eager to explore and experiment. However, to experience its highest potential, meditation also requires consistency and patience.Ā
Remember Krishnamurti's words:

ā€œMeditation is not a means to an end. It is both the means and the end.ā€
